FemailŪ 2000 Fax integration

Indepent of the fax hardware you choose you will always benefit from the same high power common features such as:

  • Intelligent retry schemas which will automatically adjust retry times and retry delays based on the detected fail condition such as busy tone, training errors etc.
  • For incoming traffic, the system can be configured to route messages directly to one or multiple mailboxes, network printers, applications, etc. The inbound routing can be configured using the native FemailŪ 2000 routing lists or stored in your Active Directory
  • Automatic fax number parsing making it possible to share global address lists between offices located in different PSTN areas or countries.
  • Fax line reservation: Individual or groups of fax lines can be assigned to handle only certain types of fax traffic or messages coming from specific departments. Next to this it is also possible to configure each fax line to either only allow receiving of message, allow only sending of fax messages or to allow both sending and receiving. This makes it possible to reserve a certain amount of lines for incoming traffic, which enables you to guarantee a certain level of availability to customers that want to fax you.
  • Easily extendible by adding additional fax boards to your existing system.

FemailŪ 2000 Brooktrout TRxStream Service

Femail® 2000 supports the TR1034™ series Brooktrout fax boards (suport for the legacay TR114™ series is also still available). The TR1034™ series is the latest generation of intelligent fax boards from Cantata Technology, and offers enterprise customers a line of high performance 33.6 Kbps intelligent fax boards with real-time fax over IP capabilities for a variety of computer-based fax applications, such as network fax, fax broadcast, unified messaging, and business process automation.

The TR1034 series delivers the ultimate in flexibility, offering support for both IP and PSTN network connectivity. For IP network connectivity, the TR1034 digital T1/E1 offers an additional Ethernet interface and supports real-time fax over IP via the T.38 protocol and SIP call control. Brooktrout’s TR1034 has been tested with fax over IP equipment from industry leading providers, including Cisco T.38 gateways, to ensure interoperability.

For PSTN-based faxing, the TR1034 is offered in a variety of analog, BRI and PRI configurations, compatible with all 33 MHz and 66 MHz PCI slots. For customers requiring a medium or low density fax solution, the TR1034 is available in 2, 4 and 8 channel analog and 2 and 4 BRI channels. For higher density PRI fax solutions, the TR1034 is available in 4, 8, 16, or 24 channel configurations for T1/PRI, or 4, 8, 10, 16, 20 or 30 channel configurations for E1/PRI. The TR1034 series, provides endusers the ultimate in choice for implementing either a PSTN or IP based network fax solution, depending on their IT requirements.

Using intelligent fax boards.
A myth exists that all fax boards and fax modems are essentially the same. If they all send at 14.4 Kbs speed, then all fax phone bills are the same and what else could matter? But fax technology can be surprising: for example, even sending at 14.4 Kbs, Class 1, 2 and 2.0 fax modems typically triple page transmission time compared to intelligent fax board throughput!

The reasons why intelligent fax boards provide superior performance may be obscure – including Modified Modified Read compression, signal-to-noise ratios, bit-stuffing, critical timing issues and call progress capabilities – but they are no less real. The longer it takes for a fax to be sent, the more it will end up costing you. If an "inexpensive" modem delays the transmission of your fax because it does not have adequate transmission speed, or compression or stuffing capabilities, the money you think you saved at the time of purchase may actually result in a variety of hidden costs.

FemailŪ 2000 Faxmodem Service

Regarless of the advantages of intelligent fax boards briefly mentioned above, for smaller environments or companies that still only have to support rather limited fax traffic a fax automation based on Class 2.0 fax modems can still be a good solution. The FemailŪ 2000 Faxmodem Service makes it possible to benefit from our experience in high volume fax processing to buidl a feature rich fax solution based on any standard modem device.

Supported fax modems
Unlike for the Brooktrout fax boards which we distribute ourselves along with our software, we do not sell or distribute faxmodems. This gives you the freedom to use any standard internal or external Class 2.0 fax modem device as long as the modem manufacturer provides a TAPI service provider (TSP) of version 1.4 or higher.
