FemailŪ 2000 InterFem
Service
The Femail® 2000 InterFem Service runs as a module on
the Femail® 2000 Gateway server and serves as a SMTP server/client
and POP3 server to enable interfacing with Femail® 2000 through standard
SMTP mail messages and POP3 connections.
Using this module you can connect any
SMTP and/or POP3 aware application to all the environments supported
by Femail® 2000. Handling fax-, SMS-, Telex etc. becomes as simple
as sending and receiving E-mail messages. The days of having to handle
different types of communication using an equal amount of different tools
and devices are over. By integrating these forms of communication into
your mail solution, your e-mail users will have unlimited communication
capabilities. Every business partner worldwide becomes an integral part
of your communication community by being virtually connected to your messaging
system.
Connecting to Femail® 2000 InterFem
means that:
- Users can now use their mail client to send and receive
messages to any environment supported by your Femail® 2000 system,
even address e-mail messages to a mix of destinations for example sending
a mail to both an e-mail and fax destination.
- Delivery reports will automatically be send back to the
user's mailbox.
- When sending a message to fax, attachments such as Word
document, PDF documents etc will be automatically converted.
- Fax cover pages can be added on the server to give even
quickly written e-mail messages a sharp layout which complies with your
company document standards.
Some specific features
- Delivering messages to e-mail destinations (for example
for fax to e-mail implementations) can be done either via a mail-relay
server, in which case all e-mail messages are sent to one mail server
(typically a server at your Internet Service Provider) which then will
take care of distributing the e-mail to the actual destination(s), or
InterFem® can deliver the e-mail directly to the destination itself
using MX-resolving to find the e-mail server of each destination.
- Spam lists can be used to prevent receiving messages
from or sending messages to certain e-mail addresses or domains. Messages
that were rejected due to the spam list can either be deleted immediately
or can be forwarded to a special spam mailbox.
- Next to its own address syntax integration, InterFem®
also supports the RFC2846 standard, offering a standardised way of integrating
global switched telephone network addresses (like fax and mobile phone
numbers) in e-mail addresses.
