FemailŪ 2000 Telex
integration
Even though the volume of telex messages is decreasing,
it still remains a critical communications medium in many environments
such as banking, finance, brokering and the shipping industry. Critical,
because of legal reasons but also because – to some destinations
or in some situations – it still remains the only reliable means
of communication available. Therefore telex continues to play a role in
many companies.
That is why there can still be a need to integrate telex with all the
other forms of communication used in your company. This is where most
Unified Messaging packages stop, but Femail® 2000 continues. Based
on over two decades of experience with telex, today we still offer a reliable,
secure and seamless integration with your mail system for both your outgoing
and incoming telex traffic through Telex over
IP even withouth use of a physical telex connection.
Indepent of which of our telex solutions you choose you will always benefit
from the same high power common features such as:
- Intelligent retry schemas which will automatically adjust
retry times and retry delays based on the detected fail condition such
as OCC, NP etc.
- For incoming traffic, the system can be configured to
route messages directly to one or multiple mailboxes, network printers,
applications, etc. An incoming telex message will be scanned (with the
possibility of using a soundex algoritm) for keywords which can be linked
to a mailbox, network printer, applications, etc. The inbound routing
can be configured using the native FemailŪ 2000 routing lists
or stored in your Active Directory.
- Automatic text conversion of non-telex characters to
the Baudot telex character set.
FemailŪ 2000 Telex over IP Service
With this service you can still send and be accessible via
telex using your own telex number and answerback just like through any
traditional telex machine but withouth the need for physical telex hardware
and telex lines. The FemailŪ 2000 Telex over IP Service communicates directly
with the telex exchange servers of a US based telex provider offering
the possiblity of sending and receiving telex messages via store and forward
and in real-time. When communication in real-time there is an end-to-end
connection between the sender and receiver where the sender is in direct
contact with the telex device of the other party.
References
When KPN decided that it would stop servicing the telex network in The
Netherlands as of January 2007, we worked closely toghether with KPN to
migrate their customers to the Telex over IP solution. Through agrements
made with KPN customers could keep their existing Dutch telex numbers
and answerbacks and maintain telex as an integrated part of their automated
messaging infrastructure even withouth the existance of a local telex
network.
Security
Next to the security through answerback exchange, embedded on the telex
protocol level, FemailŪ 2000 Telex over IP uses the latest SSL/TLS encryption
algorithms, which makes it a very secure form of communications via the
Internet. FemailŪ 2000 Telex over IP complies with Open SSL 0.9.7 standards
supporting the AES (US Advanced Encryption Standard) symmetric algorithm
known as RiJndael (256-bit keys.)
Speed
FemailŪ 2000 Telex over IP communicates with the telex exchange with the
speed that is supported by your Internet connection. When sending even
the longest store and forward message it can take literally seconds to
transmit. However, due to the standards required by the ITU, real-time
telex communications are maintained at the standard 50 Baud speed despite
the speed of your internet connection.
FemailŪ 2000 Telex Service
Next to Telex over IP we also still support the classic
telex connection using a telex box. The telex box is
an intelligent modem that provides the interface between the Femail®
2000 Telex service and the telex line. It has been designed for ease of
operation and connection to any computer that has RS232C capability.
The following telex line
interfaces are supported:
SCVF-V21/ R20.
SCVF-ED1000.
SCVF-Bell 108.
Double Current Polar.
Single Current Neutral.
