Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Femail®2000 : robust solutions teaming up.

The release of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP has marked a milestone in the life of this operating system. Microsoft has pulled out all the stops to improve security.  So much so, in fact, that it will cause many problems - because SP2 de-emphasizes backward compatibility with legacy systems and code for the sake of security.

Windows XP SP2 dramatically improves the default security configuration for XP in many areas from e-mail to Web browsing to increase protection against the ubiquitous buffer overrun.  But, all of these security improvements do not come without some considerable pain.  According to Microsoft estimates as many as one application in 10 will experience problems due to the upgrade. Therefore administrators need to know just what SP2 means for the Windows XP systems on their networks.

To help you make the roll-out of SP2 as painless as possible, Coteng teamed up with Microsoft and closely followed and tested the Service Pack 2 Release Candidates (RC's) as they came available.

Some compatibility issues that were raised in RC2 Build 2149 were fixed and resolved by Microsoft as of RC2 Build 2162.

Current status:

As of RC2 Build 2162 Femail®2000 has successfully passed compatibility testing.

Please note that all versions prior to RC2 Build 2162 may cause problems.
